Six children have so far been confirmed dead in an accident on the Volta River.

A boat carrying 70 persons and goods capsized on the river at a location close to Yeji. They were said to be passengers from a village known as Nantwie Akura.

A survivor, Alex Yaw Adjei Biney who lost two of his children in the accident narrated to Dailyviewgh.com in an interview that water started rushing into the boat while on the river.

The accident, he said occurred after the boat drivers missed their paths and hit a tree stump. The drivers, he said were not the true owners of the boat.

According to Alex who claimed he was able to rescue his mother who was also a passenger in the boat, there are still bodies in the river which are yet to be rescued.

He said he believed there were still bodies in the river yet to be pulled out.
