Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr Prosper K. Agblor, said Joyce lived with Adakwa and their three sons at Teshie Malik in Accra until a misunderstanding ensued between them.
He said as a result of the misunderstanding, Joyce packed out of the house, taking the children with her, to relocate at Teshie in the latter part of 2013.
About 4 a.m. on January 13, 2014, Mr Agblor said, Adakwa, who had been monitoring Joyce’s movement for a while, laid ambush near her cosmetic shop at Teshie and poured concentrated acid on her.
The victim, who suffered injuries on the right side of her head and neck, also sustained severe burns on her hands and chest.
Some residents who heard her shout for help took her to the LEKMA Hospital at Teshie where she was admitted and treated.
She was later discharged and the case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVSSU) of the Nungua Police.
