AUDIO: Send Gitmo 2 away – school children tells Maham

School children in the country have added their voice to the incessant calls on President John Dramani Mahama to send the two ex-Guantanamo Bay prisoners away.

School Children who spoke to Adom News said they are unhappy at the decision of the President to keep the Mahmud Umar Mohammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby in the country.

“We do not feel comfortable with the decision to keep these two Guantanamo detainees in this country, we cannot even go to the Malls again once they are here…” one school child told Adom News in an interview.

Another added that after learning of the presence of the suicide bombers in the country through GBC radio, she always has been living fear.

“I learnt that these people are suicide bombers, so they should go back, they can even teach our youth negative things including how to set bombs and also become suicide bombers…they would be a bad influence in society so they should leave…,” she argued.

The school children are the latest group of persons to add demand that the two ex-Gitmo detainees of Yemen origin be sent out of the country.

The Christian Council of Ghana, Sunni Muslims and several political leaders and parties has all demanded that the President reverse his decision to keep the Gitmo 2 in the country.

86 year old Margaret Banful, who is a former staff at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as ‘Nana B’ filed the suit on Monday at the Supreme Court.

The two are praying the court among other things a declaration that the decision by government to host the two ex-detainees, Mahmud Umar Mohammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby was unconstitutional.
