The Sunyani District Court B has ordered that every movable object in the office of DKM Diamond micro finance at Berekum in the Brong-Ahafo region should be brought to their custody.
More than 100 customers have dragged the company to court for over about GH¢880,000.00 investments, which the company has not been able to refund.
After Justice Fred Obikyere’s ruling about a month ago, the clients’ lawyer, Barima Agyekum Hinneh told Peacefmonline.com in an interview Wednesday, that the case was sent to court to demand their deposits.
“…the court ordered to bring all their movable items to court for the case to proceed…” he indicated.
He stated that he went for an execution today in order to be able to move the items.
A writ of execution (also known as an execution) is a court order granted to put in force a judgment of possession obtained by a plaintiff from a court.
“The court has therefore ordered a sheriff to take possession of the property owned by DKM Diamond microfinance,” he added.
“I’ve supervised the seizure of every movable asset of DKM Diamond microfinance office in Berekum, apart from their ATM machine and airconditioners which I will go for later, and the items are currently in the custody of the court until we proceed with the case,” he told Peacefmonline.com.
Meanwhile, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has advised customers of DKM Diamond Micro-Finance Limited and Jastar Motors and Investments, Savings in the Brong-Ahafo Region to exercise restraint, as it initiates process to pay them their cash deposits.
Mr. Raymond Amanfu, Head of Banking Supervision Department of the BoG has indicated that they would go through the process of liquidating assets of DKM and others and use the proceeds to repay depositors their monies.
