    Powers apologises to T.B. Joshua

Michael Ayittey Powers Okine says he owes spiritual leader, Temitope Balogun (T.B.) Joshua, an apology after going ahead to lose to Bukom Banku in their second encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Boxing Day.

“Before this second fight, I went to T.B. Joshua and he told me not to fight but I went ahead and fought and lost. I want to apologise to him,” he told the Daily Graphic in an interview after the defeat.

According to him, he intends to lead a delegation of top government officials to say sorry to the founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).

T.B. Joshua has been the pillar behind the boxer since delivering him from demonic forces three years ago.

The Bukom-born fighter, who has until his loss to Banku won all his three previous fights convincingly, said he was done with fighting in the country and would return to Australia for good to do business.

Powers failed to answer the call of the bell after the fifth round of his bout with Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku in their much-hyped bout dubbed “Repeat or Revenge” .

He confessed that he had no intention of fighting Banku anymore as he now regarded him as a champion.

But the 40-year-old fighter was quick to jab the organisers, Landmark Promotions, for allowing the fight to go ahead despite the huge weight difference between the two boxers.

“They know Banku is much weightier than me; at the weighing he weighed 98.2kg, while I weighed a little above 80kg but they insisted I fight him,” a dejected Powers noted.

The boxer, who is noted for his blonde dreadlocks, disclosed that he dislocated a shoulder in his right arm in the fifth round which was why he failed to continue.

Without using that as an excuse, however, he admitted that Banku was the better fighter.
