Inline with government intervention has today at Mamobi Islamic Training Institute put smiles on 6,500 youth to undergo in Arabic education.
The Director, technical services at YEA Alhaji Sulemana delivered the speech behalf of the chief Executive officer Mr Kobina Ebo Beechem said that it was his distinct honour to bring such initiative on board and therefore urged the youth who benefited from the youth in Arabic education to take it serious.

The Agency has various modules of which the community teaching modules forms part. He continued to said that it was a collaborative effort with the ministry of Education(Moe) and the Ghana Education Service(GES). under this module two programmes have been developed that is the Community Education Teaching Assistants programme and the Arabic Teachers Programme.
Alhaji sulemana on behalf of Mr Beechem said that the Arabic teachers programme.

Alhaji sulemana said the Arabic teachers programme is designed to augment, improve and promote the learning of Arabic and Islamic education in all communities across the length and breathe of the country.
The stark reality is that for most pupils in Muslim communities in the country their first exposure to formal education is the learning of the Arabic language. This is because it is the Noble Qur’an and the hadith which are the primary sources of guidance to Muslims.

This noble initiative stands to support the Ghana education service(GES) in it’s strive to include the Arabic language in the examinable subjects at the basic and SHS levels. The Ghana education service has an Islamic Unit which is responsible for Islamic education indicating clearly that Arabic teachers are already in the system. Their number is however inadequate. Hence the for YEA to support the GES in it’s quest to addressing this human resource gap.
YEA has recruited six thousand, five hundred(6,500) Arabic teachers who have a sole responsibility of teaching Arabic in the various Islamic schools (Madrasah/Makaranta) across the country.
He also noted currently majority of the Arabic teachers in the Islamic schools of the GES are volunteers. Such is also the case of numerous of them who organize and teach pupils voluntarily in the various communities during the weekends.
The truth is, most of these teachers have received higher forms of education in Arabic teaching (from various universities and institutions of higher learning in Ghana, Africa and the middle east) and are with the hope of being formally employed by the GES. This has been difficult over the past period.
Alhaji sulemana in conclusion of his speech on behalf of Mr Beechem jnr happily announced that, as the mandated institution to provide jobs for the youth in the country, The YEA HSS recruited these teachers to enable them receive monthly allowances just above the National Daily Minimum Wage( NDMW). The quest is to work closely with the GES to ensure the seamless integration of these Arabic teachers into the GES after two years of being on the programme. Finally Alhaji sulemana said the way ,Arabic teachers will be available everywhere in the country to bring education to all particularly Islamic communities. He therefore thanked his Excellency the president of the republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama for bringing such initiative.
