Police in the Ashanti region have arrested 6 suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing residents of Atwima Boko, Atwema koforidua and Atwima Techiman and its environs.
Emmanuel Duah 27, Christopher Coumbus 30, Yaw Adu Twum 27, Akwasi Appiah 24 and Francis Yeboah 28 a unit committee member at Afepaye community are the 6 whose robbery activities have gained notoriety in these communities.
The gang has confessed killing at least killed 4 victims in their robbery operations within the Atwema district of the Ashanti Region alone.
Among them include 2 cocoa farmers, an assembly member and one Kwadwo Prempeh site manager of Benviko Small Scale Mining all residents of Atwima district.
After their arrest, police recovered 2 single barrel guns and one pump-action gun all found out to be unlicensed.
Police interrogations further revealed that the suspects were also operating as contract killers but it is yet to be established who their clients are.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye pledged his commitment in ensuring that the region becomes crime and violence free devoid of new tactics adopted by these miscreants
