The Nima Police command has arrested 26 people around the Kwame Nkrumah circle in Accra suspected to be engaged in phone theft and other criminal activities.

The suspects were picked up in a swoop Tuesday evening after a tip off.

The Police say they will be screened today to ascertain their criminal status.

The Nima Divisional Commander, ACP Nuhu Jango, told the media that the suspects will be appear in court soon.

“The information we had is that people are selling at Circle and so we decided to embark on this exercise to see. Those arrested are all suspects, we are yet to screen them and we cannot confirm that they are all criminals.

“We have to screen them and after that there will be an official presentation” ACP Jango said.

Meanwhile, the Police embarked on a second swoop Wednesday morning in an attempt to arrest more suspected criminals.
