As part of Youth Employment Agency’s(YEA) idea to help the unemployment especially the youth to have jobs to do the YEA and the Department of Parks and Gardens have collaborated to train 250 beneficiaries and 30 supervisors.

Speaking at the launching ceremony which was held at the head office of Department of Parks and Gardens in Accra Mr Ishmael NII Adjei Browne, Director for the Department of Parks and Gardens Thanked Mr Kobina Beechem Jnr who is the CEO of YEA for collaborating his outfit to come out with great idea to help the youth unemployment.

Mr Browne promised the beneficiaries that the Department will impart employable skills to the beneficiaries after which they will be deployed to work on four selected ceremonial roads in Accra.

The concept has the primary objectives of providing employment to the youth, provide tools to work with and augment the human resource of the Department of Parks and Gardens.
Mr Browne also said there will be other benefits that will be derived through it’s implementation such as:

Add beauty to towns and cities

Trees will serve as light breakers which will help reduce road accidents

Absorption of harmful gases by trees and

Conserve our natural resources

Also this pilot program is planned to be replicated in other regions in the near future.
Globally, problems of economic growth are inseparable from those of environmental pollution, explosive population growth, resource depletion.

In a green economy, development of green jobs becomes the basics of sustainable economic growth. Green jobs are central to the global challenges of environmental protection, economic development and social inclusion.
Mr Browne in conclusion of his speech thank all the staff at YEA and Department of Parks and Gardens as well as the committee that hastened the process.

He also plead with various stakeholders and the general public to support this programme in all ways possible so that the ultimate aims and objectives can be achieved.
