The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Sun Boahong has built a new classroom block for the Awutu Bereku D/A Junior High School in the Awutu-Senya district in the Central Region.
According to the Ambassador, she built the school block as a birthday gift to the Member of Parliament for the area, Hanna Tetteh.
The $250,000 edifice consist of six classrooms with 303 set of desk, 30 computers with 15 UPS, a library, one projector, two teachers’ office and 12 sets of student cardboard.
The Chinese ambassador also donated an undisclosed amount to Hanna Tetteh who is also the Foreign Minister, to be used for scholarships to reduce the rate of girl dropouts in the school.
Addressing the gathering, the Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West constituency, Hannah Serwah Tetteh, charged the students to make good use of the project by passing the impending Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
‘”We want all the students in this school to get 100% from the BECE by all means.”
She promised to do more to improve on the education sector of the district.
Ambassador Sun Baohong, during the handing over ceremony was installed the developmental queen mother of Awutu Bereku traditional council with the stool name Odeai Naakyei Ama Wode I.
The school is now known as Awutu China modern school.
