A 75-year-old woman and her two grandchildren were killed by a hit-and-run driver at Teshie in Accra last Saturday night.

The grandmother has been identified as Adwoa Ode, while the names of her grandchildren have been given as Jessica Owusu Sekyere, a 10-year-old Class Three pupil and Jacklyne Owusu Sekyere, an eight-year-old Class One pupil.

Madam Ode, who was the paternal grandmother of the children were returning from the funeral of their maternal grandfather which was held at Kordeabe, near Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region.

According to eyewitnesses, the three were crossing the road at the Southern Command Gate on the main Teshie-Accra road at about 7:30pm when the vehicle hit them.

However, according to Graphiconline’s reporter, Donald Ato Dapatem, several passengers were seriously injured and were carried away in an ambulance to the nearest health facility.

He said the accident had caused a heavy traffic on the road, forcing commuters to walk from Asuoyeboa and its environs to Kejetia.
